Article: Miffy Bunny Bowl

Miffy Bunny Bowl

Made using our limited edition Easter Kit, but can be made using our Air-dry kit or Junior kit.

Please note that this is not food safe as its not fired in a professional kiln, so leave the foil on the eggs when displaying in the bowl.

Instructions

  • Roll out your clay to an even thickness of about 7/8mm.
  • Draw a circle with ears, then using knife or pointy tool cut it out, you can use the template but it will be really small so suggest free hand drawing.
  • Drape it over the outside of an upturned bowl or place in the middle of the bowl like we have done and gently press it down to form the bowl shape with a damp sponge. Smooth out any creases with your fingers.
  • Leave to dry on the bowl mould for 24–48 hours until completely hard. Don't rush this step!
  • Take it off the bowl, you can gently sponge it smooth then leave to dry fully for a week.
  • Be super careful when painting, as they are fragile.
  • Apply your paint in thin coats using your brush. This helps prevent cracking or peeling. Let each layer dry fully before adding the next. Avoid thick globs of paint — they take longer to dry and are more likely to peel.
  • Don’t paint all the way to the bottom edge. Leave a small unpainted border at the very base of your piece.

    This helps:

    - Prevent the paint from sticking to your work surface
    - Stop peeling when you lift or move it later

  • Once the paint is completely dry, apply two coats of sealer. Let each coat dry before applying the next, using the same technique above to avoid sticking to your surface.
